CPV2 ha evolucionado en 3 variantes gen\u00e9ticas y antig\u00e9nicas (2a, 2b y 2c) que tienen una distribuci\u00f3n mundial. En este trabajo reportamos el primer estudio de diversidad gen\u00e9tica de CPV2 en Chile. Se analizaron 65 muestras colectadas desde cachorros que presentaban gastroenteritis severa. Se realiz\u00f3 RFLP y secuenciaci\u00f3n parcial de la regi\u00f3n codificante de la prote\u00edna viral estructural 2 (VP2) de las muestras positivas a PCR para CPV. De las 30 muestras positivas a PCR se clasificaron 19 como CPV2c y 1 como CPV2a, usando RFLP. La filogenia de VP2 fue concordante con lo encontrado en el RFLP. Este reporte constituye la primera caracterizaci\u00f3n gen\u00e9tica de CPV2 en Chile y revela una alta ocurrencia de CPV2c.<br \/>\nEstudio se realiz\u00f3 en colaboraci\u00f3n con la Universidad de Chile y la Universidad de la Rep\u00fablica de Uruguay; adem\u00e1s cont\u00f3 con la participaci\u00f3n de los alumnos de pregrado de la Facultad de Ciencias Veterinarias UdeC Alberto Sandoval y Nhur-Aischa Zegpi en los an\u00e1lisis filogen\u00e9ticos. El trabajo cient\u00edfico describe la circulaci\u00f3n viral de CPV en perros de la ciudad de Chill\u00e1n, Santiago y Los Andes, lo que constituye un material de informaci\u00f3n muy valioso para los MV de cl\u00ednica de animales menores, que podr\u00e1 ser en el futuro ampliado a otras ciudades y que contribuye describir el contexto epidemiol\u00f3gico de esta enfermedad en
